About Striker Shootout

About Striker Shooutout™

The Striker Shootout game was born from a desire of old soccer college friends getting together to play a game they loved. It would not require running around in the field but would instead allow for healthy walking from Triad to Triad (as in golf going from hole to hole) in a friendly “striker” competition.  Striker Shootout gives the players an opportunity to socialize and catch up with each other while at play. The rules of the game are similar to golf but you use your soccer ball and take the minimum number of kicks to ring a bell and score a goal in the Triads. This game has become popular with friends and family. It is easy to play and can be played between individuals of different skill levels, ages, or genders. It can be played between competitive individuals or teams in ANY open field. It is portable, lightweight, and easy to assemble and can also be set up in backyards, parks or any open playing field. It is popular at family reunions, parties, social gatherings, picnics and competitive events.

The Field

  1. Games can be played in any open field – football, soccer, baseball, park, beach, home yards, etc.
  2. There are no “line boundaries” to play the game and it is open to any part of the field. The field can include trees, bushes, building structures or any other obstacles, which make it more fun and exciting. Avoid setting up your Triads close to waterways, lakes, rivers and streams. It is hard to retrieve balls from the water.

The Teams

  1. Each team can consist of one individual or several players per team.
  2. If each team has one player, then each player needs their own ball, but if the team consists of multiple players, then each team will play with only one ball. The balls should be outdoors, size 5 soccer balls. (children should use size 4)
  3. Teams with multiple players should rotate turns kicking until all have kicked.
  4. Older players are encouraged to play with cleated or sports shoes to avoid slipping on moist grass or terrains when kicking.

The Triads/Goals

  1. The number of Triads to be used is determined beforehand by the organizer and those playing.
  2. There are multiple Striker Shootout™ Sets, which vary in number of Triads and materials they’re made of, with the Family Set having 3 strong and durable Triads of synthetic plastic polymer.
  3. To set up the Triads, see Assembly Instructions on following page.

The Game

  1. The game is recommended to be played in fields using 3 to 10+ Striker Shootout™ The Triads should be placed from 30 to 100+ yards apart – depending on the players’ soccer/kicking skills. 30 yards separation between Triads is recommended for play between children/families with children).
  2. There will be no time-limit allotted per game. Usually, 1 to 2 hours is standard and reasonable for most players.
  3. A goal will be counted when the ball partly or completely crosses the “invisible slanted Triad plane” AND rings the bell. If any part of the ball breaks the “invisible slanted plane” of the Triad, but does NOT ring the bell, the goal will NOT be counted as a goal.
  4. In-doubt-goal final decisions will be made by the organizer or a designated referee.
  5. Players can be any age, sex, or skill level and can play mixed or any combination.
  6. Tournaments can be defined by the organizers with regards to players and skill level.
  7. Game play starts at the “Base Triad.” This is usually where you have your canopy, chairs, tables, food, etc. All teams take turns kicking towards the 1st Triad from anywhere within 10 feet of where the Base Triad is set.  After all teams have kicked and tallied the number of kicks needed to make the 1st Triad, then the same thing happens with all other subsequent Triads until you finish the game. The Base Triad ends up being the last goal of the game.
  8. Each team will keep a score card with the number of kicks taken per Triad. Once the team makes the goal, they remove their ball from play and move out of the way for the other teams to finish their round. Courteous play is getting out of the way!
  9. Once all players have scored on a specific Triad, then they will start the kicks to the next Triad, until all Triads have been played and completed.
  10. When all teams have completed their rounds with all the Triads, they will tally all their kicks and report their total number of kicks to the organizer.
  11. The team with the least number of kicks needed to finish the entire game WINS!

Two (2) – Support Legs

Assembly Instructions

Step 1 – Insert the two Support Legs into the Core Leg Assembly Hub with the bell.

Step 2 – Place the complete Triad where you want to set it on the field and “stake down” the three stakes through the holes on the bottom of each leg.  If necessary, use a hammer to put the stakes into the ground, taking care not to hit the legs with the hammer, breaking or damaging them.

Step 3 – Insert the flag wire into the top small hole of the Core Leg Assembly Hub (where all three legs come together).  It may be a little tight and may require working it in.

Disassembly

Step 1 – Take flag wire out of the Core Leg Assembly Hub.

Step 2 – Pull the 3 stakes out of each leg, being careful not to break or damage the legs.

Step 3 – Pull the 2 Support Legs out of the Core Leg Assembly Hub by turning and pulling simultaneously each leg. Do not try to get the leg, marked with a dot on the Hub, out! It is permanently glued!

Step 4 – Place all parts into the Triad Pouch and tie the strap with a tight simple bow to make it easy to use next time. That’s it!  Place it in a child-proof place for storage.
